Details:
Event Coordinator is Arleen Hughes of the St. Bernard Council on Aging, Offered for first time ever in the GNOSO Olympiad, Beanbag Baseball will no doubt be an annual affair. The amount of coordinaiton required to stage this properly is astounding. Arleen, Susan ("Suzie") and company did themselves proud, from an opening scene with the Greek dieties Zeus and Hera accompanied by the strains of "Chariots of Fire," and a closing of the Event to the "Star Spangled Banner."
Beanbag Baseball is played by having two opposing teams lined up in chairs facing each other. In proper rotation, the players will stand at the "home plate" and "bat" by tossing a beanbag at a special board. The board is marked with specified outcomes, "Home Run," "3 Base," "2 Base," 1 Base," "Foul Ball," and two "Out" holes. Each "batter" is allowed to toss up to 3 bags, which if no "runs" are scored, he is "out." If the "batter" gets to advance, he must go to one of the three chairs set up behind the board, appropriately marked "1st," "2nd" and "3rd" base. If advancing past "1st base," he must touch any "base" he passes.
